Hello!  Welcome to TheaMakesThings, my place to offer my one-of-a-kind creations to you!     My name is Rachael, but everyone calls me Thea, and I love to make things!  I have been a crafter for as long as I can remember, learning sewing, knitting and embroidery from my mother and grandmothers at a young age.  I have been making necklaces for over 20 years, primarily using a wire wrapping technique known as rosary chaining.  I also use the same techniques to create bookmarks, keychains and charms that can be used in a variety of ways.   I am often inspired by art, nature, and my own imagination.  I take pride in making beautiful things that are strong and sturdy enough to be used every day or however often you choose.  I hope you will find something you love that you will want to buy so you can incorporate it into your life.  Please like my Facebook page at  http://www.facebook.com/theamakesthings/ for notifications when items are added to the shop.       MY HANDMADE PLEDGE:  I define handcrafted as taking materials purchased from a variety of sources and combining them into a new item using such crafting skills as needed to complete the piece.  I consider handmade things to be items where the artisan has made significant modifications to the original item.   All items are one-of-a-kind, handcrafted by me, or in a few cases by my husband and me, in my smoke-free, pet free home studio.     A NOTE ABOUT MATERIALS:  I work in a variety of materials including: tarnish resistant silver-plated copper wire; copper wire; semi-precious gemstone beads; mixed metal beads, findings, and charms; glass beads; fabric; and more.  I source my items from a variety of places.  I endeavor to list all components in the description of each item and you are always welcome to message me prior to purchase if you have any questions.  I cannot guarantee that items are nickel free, please keep that in mind if you are nickel-sensitive.  Due to the nature of the metals and beads I use, I do not recommend these items for anyone under the age of 12.
